For years, women all over the world have known Idris Elba is a god. And, it looks like Hollywood agrees with us. The handsome English actor has been cast as Norse god in the guaranteed 2011 summer blockbuster Thor. Elba plays Heimdall, the guardian of the bridge between the realms of humans and gods. Heimdall, in Norse mythology, is also known as the 'white god' (insert irony here).This Scandinavian scandal is too much for a group of white supremacists, who will protest the movie like they protested the election of President Barack Obama. I'm not sure how they feel about Samuel L. Jackson playing Nick Fury, but I'm sure there's some chatter out there.
Of late, Jake Gyllenhaal was Persian, white actors replaced Asians in 21 and Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Robert Downey Jr. donned blackface in Tropic Thunder with supposedly conscious irony. So, I don't think too many people will have a problem worshipping at the alter of Elba this summer.
